THE SOUND OF TEXTS
One of the highlights of my relationship with Paula is that I was always getting myself into trouble for things I never said or thought. The conversation below is an example of such. Paula had previously asked me if she could drop Parker off with me on the Sunday morning of a 5K race she was running and I agreed. Here, the Monday prior to the race, she is asking me if I would rather have Parker on Saturday night. I said Saturday is fine twice before she indicated she would drop him off Sunday morning if I did not mind which is what the original plans were before she even asked about Saturday night. I repeated Saturday was fine before she repeated that she would keep him until Sunday morning if I did not mind. Somehow, saying Saturday is fine multiple times "sounds" like I did not care either way. And the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round.
That said, I told her I want him as much possible which apparently has its own sound in text too. By saying I want him as much as possible, it sounds like I'm saying she does not want him as much as possible. Then she feels the need to explain to me how much she values her time with him and teaching him new things and how much she misses him when he is not with her. Why tell me? I said nothing about it no matter what sounds she hears when reading texts. Of course, she pretends that she offered Saturday night for his benefit and mine before reminding me again that she is happy to keep him. If it was that important to her, she could have kept him without saying anything to me at all and making us go through this ridiculous conversation. However, she actually offered Saturday night because she had plans to go to Oktoberfest with her boyfriend Chase and she had to pretend to herself that someone was putting a gun to her head and forcing her give up her time with her son.
